Landfall installation procedures

Seatrench Asia Pte Ltd awarded BEIN Engineering with the task of doing the landfall installation procedures for the installation of 3 power cables between the Philippines islands of Panay and Negros. (Two individual power cables and one power cable bundled with a fiber optic cable). The two landfall sites are typically characterized by long shallow and tidal affected mudflats, making planning and procedure work all the more important.

The work performed by BEIN included float-in and pull-in calculations, detailed task plans, time estimates, equipment lists, risk assessment and lift plans as well as rigging drawings, step-by-step drawings and site layouts. The work has been executed in close collaboration with Seatrench and the submarine cable supplier ZTT. Seatrench have now successfully pulled-in the cables at both ends and buried the cables with their in-house trenching machines.

Seatrench is a worldwide leader in shallow water trenching and shore end contracting – read more about Seatrench here.
